Pastor, Evangelist, Promoter, Band Manager, Director. He began his theatrical career at the The Unstabled Theater with Actress Lily Tomlin in Detroit, Michigan, run by Edith Carroll Canter and Woodie King, Jr. In 1970 he helped in forming the Jesus People Army, establishing outposts in Yakima and Spokane, Washington; Boise, Idaho; and Vancouver, British Columbia. In Milwaukee he started the Milwaukee Jesus People commune, The Jesus Christ Power House coffeehouse, the band Sheep, and the Jesus People Discipleship Training Center school, the latter with some 200 members. The Milwaukee Jesus People broke up into the international ministry Christ is the Answer, the still ongoing inner city commune Jesus People USA in Chicago, and Jesus People Europe. In Europe he capitalized on being a first-generation Finn and preached at Temppeliaukion Kirkko in Helsinki, Finland, and continued to manage Sheep, producing the first of two records, Karitsat Jeesus-Rock, in both Finnish and English. He then lead Jesus People Europe and Sheep to tour through Western Europe including Germany and the Netherlands. In 1972 he formed and directed the musical "Lonesome Stone," a history of the early Jesus People Movement, which toured around Western Europe and the UK. In 1974 he was one of the founders of the still ongoing Greenbelt, at one time the largest Christian music festival in the world. In 1975 he formed and ran a new commune, The Highway Missionary Society, which did street evangelism, showed the movie "Brother Sun Sister Moon", and toured Servant. He founded, managed, and promoted Servant, one of the principle Christian rock bands of the 70s and 80s, borrowing heavily on his theatrical background in their music sets. Servant was the first Christian band to use lasers and have an extensive light show, and went on to produce six records and give the rock band Petra their start. Some of those records were produced by the record company he began, Rooftop Records. The Highway Missionary Society was devoted to Acts-style communal living, living in poverty, and evangelism, practicing Creation Care through an extensive treeplanting ministry. The commune moved constantly, eventually settling near Grants Pass, Oregon, where they sponsored numerous refugees from Vietnam and Laos. In later years he promoted other Christian rock groups including Whitecross, PID, and Newsboys. In 2007 he narrated the movie "Frisbee: The Life and Death of a Hippie Preacher," the story of one of the founders of the Jesus Movement who was gay. Through his ministries thousands converted to Christianity.
