"ANDY" BAIRD FUNERAL HELD SUNDAY AFTERNOON
The funeral of Andrew M. Baird who died October 5, was held Sunday afternoon in the Christian Church in Mooreland, with Rev. C. Forbes officiating. Burial was made in the Mooreland Cemetery; Knittel Funeral Home in charge.
Andrew Martin Baird was born in Ottawa County, Kansas, January 29, 1890 to Harry B. and Rachel Boyle Baird and passed away in Mooreland, Oklahoma, October 5, 1943, at the age of 53 years, 8 months, 5 days.
In 1894 he moved with his parents to Pawnee County, Oklahoma, and in 1906 to Woodward County, where he has since resided.
When a youth, he became a member of the United Brethern Church and retained his membership in that church the remainder of his life.
On November 8, 1912, he was united in marriage to Vesta Evelena Young in Golden Belt district in Woodward County, Oklahoma. To this union was born four sons and one daughter, all of whom survive him.
Andy, as he was familiarly known, was well known and well liked by all who knew him. He was a friend to everyone. He seldom spoke of his own troubles, but tried to take the burden off of others in their difficulties. One brother, William preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn their loss, his wife Vesta, his four sons, Merrill, a member of the Naval Construction Battalion stationed at Magruder, Virginia, Milton of Huntington Park, California, Eugene of the U. S. Army now stationed in Sicily, Audice of Woodward, and one daughter Mrs. Faye Brown of Mooreland. All of these were present at the funeral except Eugene.
He is also survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Baird of Mooreland, one brother bert of Ft. Worth, Texas, and other relatives.
Other relatives from a distance included his uncle, Will Boyle and wife Laverne, and the following cousins: Mr. and Mrs. John Neil, Ponca City; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Neil, Enid; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Boyle, Bison, Oklahoma, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Boyle, Arkansas City; Mr. and Mrs. Jess Boyle, Waynoka; Mr. and Mrs. Frieve Boyle, Waynoka; Mr. and Mrs. Will Boyle, Waynoka; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Schlarb, Chester, Oklahoma; Mr. and Mrs. Jess Patterson, Quinlan; Mr. and Mrs. Lloy Russell, Waynoka.
