Irene lived and Englewood and Bergenfield, NJ before moving to NH in 1957. She was a graduate of St. Cecilia High School, Englewood, N.J. and also Englewood Business School and Holy Name Hospital School of Nursing in Teaneck, N.J. She attended the University of Rochester in N.Y. and in 1972, graduated from St. Anselm College, Manchester.
She was a staff nurse at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City prior to service in the Army Nurse Corps as a First Lieutenant during World War II. Upon discharge, she joined the staff of Lempert Institute of Otology in New York City.
She had been on Infirmary Staff of St. Paul's School in Concord as well as school nurse at Chichester Central School. After retirement from the NH Dept. of Health and Welfare, she joined the staff of Merrimack County RSVP office in Concord.
She had been a volunteer tutor in the Adult Tutorial Program in Concord and also volunteered at NH Association for the Blind and Concord Hospital Senior Wellness Team. She was a member of the Friends of the Concord City Auditorium for many years.
She was a past member of the American Nurses Assn. and NH Nurses Assn. For more than 30 years, she had been an active member of the Concord YMCA. Her many interests included swimming, photography, writing, crafts and travel.
She was a communicant of St. Peter's Church in Concord.
