Robert Sidney Pyland of Allen, Texas passed away on September 7, 2016 at the age of 73. He was born on November 29, 1942 to Sidney Sublett and Betty (Cluney) Pyland in Somerville, Massachusetts. He moved with his family to Abilene, Texas at age 3. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1961 and Texas Tech University in 1966. Robert proudly served his country in the Texas Army National Guard from 1966 to 1972. After moving to Dallas, he became a CPA and worked for Arthur Andersen, Michigan General, Pumpkin Air, and Electronic Data Systems among others during his long career. He was a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Allen, Texas.

Robert is survived by his daughters, Corrie Nativi and husband, Kirk of Frisco, Texas, Lesley Watson and husband, Kevin of Prosper, Texas; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Randy Pyland and wife, Kerry of Knox City, Texas; sisters, Patty Riddle and husband, Ronnie of Abilene, Texas, Pam Field and husband, Tom of Dallas, Texas; step-mother, Mary Pyland of Abilene, Texas; many other loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends, as well as his beloved cat, Suki.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his high school sweetheart and mother of Corrie and Lesley, Carolyn Gillis Pyland.

A funeral mass will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, September 12, 2016 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 5100 W. Plano Pkwy, Plano, Texas 75093. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Sunday evening, September 11, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. A rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas.

According to Robert’s wishes, the family asks for donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.
