Sarah Ann was the daughter of Catherine Shelly and John Wolf and the widow of Samuel Henry Geer. She passed away due to edema of the lungs that was brought on by chronic interstitial nephritis over the 3 years that preceded her death.

Sarah's husband, Samuel fought, in the Civil War with the 103rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry and died 16 Oct 1862 in Suffolk, Virginia, the result of an unnamed debility (listed in some documents as typhoid fever and diahrrea) and is presumed buried there in an unmarked grave or as an unknown soldier in the Hampton National Cemetery.
