Obit: Oliver John Russell, 80 , died at 6 p.m. Thursday (February 5, 1953) in Clinton County Hospital of injuries received when he was hit by a Nickel Plate train Wednesday afternoon.

Russell was walking north in an alley between Columbia and Bunnell streets when he started across the NKP tracks about 4:45 p.m. Wednesday. A slow-moving NKP train struck the aged man and hurled him about 20 feet. His initial injuries were described as two broken ribs.

He had made his residence at the Nickel Plate Hotel, 400 West Ohio street, and had lived in Frankfort since 1947.

Born June 16, 1872, in Kirklin, Russell was a son of Knight and Harriett Huffine Russell.

Survivors include two sons, Arthur Russell of Indianapolis and Otha K. Russell, Navy Ship Yards, San Francisco, California; three daughters, Emma Sanders of Frankfort, Waneta Essex of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Mary Downs of Terre Haute; one sister, Fern Hendricks of Kirklin, and one brother, Fred Russell, of Kirklin.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at the Goodwin Funeral Home here with Rev. Stanley Russell officiating. Burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery.
