Wavie Alderman Grennert, 78, of Route 1, Box 247 Fieldale, died Wednesday, May 29, 1996, in Memorial Hospital, Martinsville-Henry County. She was born in Floyd County December 13, 1917, daughter of the late Saford C. and Louisa Webb Alderman

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Grennert Jr.

She was a retired buyer for J C Penney Co. Mrs. Grennert was a member of Palamar Hospital Auxiliary and a volunteer at the Joslyn Center for Seniors in Escondido, Calif. She was a member of the House of Prayer Lutheran Church in Escondido, Calif.

She is survived by sisters, Lorine Goad, Dugspur, Pauline Turner, Fieldale, Gracie Bolt, Willis, Cecil Hale, Bassett; brothers, Otis Alderman, Willis, Delmar Alderman, Hillsville, Maynard Alderman, Warsaw, Buel Alderman, Meadows of Dan.

She was predeceased by a brother, Elbert Alderman; and a sister, Ora Thompson.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 3 p.m., at McKee Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Grow and the Rev. S. G. Bolt officiating. Entombment will be in Mountain View Mausoleum in Altadena, Calif. at a later date. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (2 to 3 p.m) Friday at McKee's. Memorials may be made to Hospice/MHMHC, P.O. Box 4788, Martinsville, Va.
