Mass of Christian Burial for Irene B. Feuerborn, 94, Garnett, was Wednesday, May 10,
2006, at Holy Angles Catholic Church with Father Brian Klingele officiating. Lector
was Gary Rommelfanger. Gift Bearers were Angie Theis, Trisha Snell, and Jeanine
Troyer. Interment was in Holy Angels Cemetery. Mrs. Feuerborn died Sunday, May 7,
at Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care Facility.
Irene B. Feuerborn was born December 20, 1911, in Anderson County, the daughter of
John C. and Elizabeth (Brummel) Pickert. She was a lifetime resident of Anderson
County.
Irene was a member of Holy Angels Church and Altar Society. She enjoyed gardening
and cooking, particularly baking bread and making noodles. With her husband, she
cleaned at Holy Angels School and later, she and her sister cleaned at Garnett State
Savings Bank for many years.
Irene and Matthew Joseph Feuerborn were married February 20, 1933, at Garnett. This
union was blessed with two sons and four daughters. He preceded her in death on
December 8, 2003.
Mrs. Feuerborn was also preceded in death by her brothers, Harold, Herman, Elmer, and
Earl Pickert.
Irene is survived by her sons, Leon Feuerborn and his wife Mary of Altamont and Carl
Feuerborn of Linwood; her daughters, Rosalie Rommelfanger and her husband Leonard,
Dorothy Lickteig and her husband Cecil, Lois Miller and her husband Jerry, and Donna
Carr and her husband, J.D., all of Garnett; her brother, Ivo Pickert of Jefferson City, MO;
her sisters, Bertha Sobba and Berniece Steele, both of Garnett; 19 grandchildren, eight
step-grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 24 step-great-grandchildren.
Music was provided by Sue Hardman, organist, and Scott Theis, soloist. Musical
selections included 'Be Not Afraid', 'Hail Mary', 'Gentle Woman', 'On This Day O
Beautiful Mother', and 'On Eagle's Wings'.
Casketbearers were Irene's grandsons, Dean Feuerborn, Gary Rommelfanger, Alan
Rommelfanger, Ken Lickteig, Mike Lickteig, Ron Lickteig, Jeff Lickteig, Jerry Lickteig,
David Carr, and Daniel Carr.
The family suggests memorials be made to Holy Angels Church, Anderson County
Hospital Long Term Care, or Hospice Care of Kansas.
Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements."
