Richard L. (Andy) Anderson, died at his home in Henry County after a long illness. He was born in Claremore, Okla., the son of Edgar M. and Hazel L. Anderson, the youngest of five children. He graduated from Claremore High School and attended the University of Missouri.

Mr. Anderson was a veteran of World War II. His tour of duty included North Africa, Sicily, Italy, the invasion of Anzio, Germany and France. After World War II he served with the Counter Intelligence Corps and then as a civilian, in the Department of Defense as an industrial inspector out of Baltimore and Washington D.C.

He moved to the Muncie area after his retirement in 1974. Mr. Anderson was a member of Hazelwood Christian Church in Muncie. Survivors include his wife, Franella Kidney Anderson; three stepdaughters, Mary Ruff, Indianapolis, Deborah Dobecki (husband: Kevin), South Bend, and Rachel Syska (husband: Mark), Vernon Hills, Ill., and four step-grandchildren, Christopher and Daniel Dobecki and Alexander and Natalie Syska.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hazelwood Christian Church, Dr. David Cartwright and Dr. Robert Sulanke will officiate. Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary from 4 until 7 p.m. today or an hour before the services Wednesday at the church. Place of burial will be announced. Memorials may be sent to Cancer Services of Delaware County, Little Red Door, or to Hazelwood Christian Church.
