Ray D. Bowers, City, Dies at 77

Ray D. Bowers, 77, of 423 4th Ave. SE, a former car and implement dealer and real estate operator, died Tuesday at St. Marys Hospital after a long illness.

He was born Oct. 19, 1895, near Mazeppa in Wabasha County, and married Hattie Baker May 23, 1916 in Wabasha.

Mr. Bowers and his wife resided in Rochester after their marriage and later moved to Oronoco, where he was in business from 1934-50. They later returned to Rochester where they lived since. He was a past member of the Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Lucille) Kaul of Oronoco; two sons, Lyle and Lloyd, both of Rochester; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Clarence Beecher, and brother, Denny, both of Rochester. A brother preceded him in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Macken Funeral Home. The Rev. David Earnhart of Golden Hill Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Thursday and until time of services.
