Dorothy "Dot" Irene Dixon, 92, formerly of 404 South Charleston Street, Blacksburg, S.C. went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Born in Atlanta, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Henry C. Dixon and Irene Kirk Dixon.
She was owner/operator of Dot’s Beauty Shop and retired from textiles. She was a graduate of Blacksburg High School and a lifelong, and oldest, member of Cherokee Falls Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters: Peggy Moss and husband, James, of Blacksburg and Deva Rena Thompson and husband, Bee Ray, of Cross, S.C.; four grandchildren: Ken Bolin and wife, Sheila, Steve Bolin and wife, Kim, Brook Mizner and Lesa Bolin; four great-grandchildren: Andrew Bolin, Jacob Bolin, Jonathan Bolin and Hayden Childers; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Herbert, Ruth, Edna, Ernest, Jean and Joanne and a son-in-law, Kenny Bolin.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Rev. Tim Knotts and the members of Cherokee Falls Baptist Church for their love, visits, and never forgetting her as part of their church family. Also, special thanks to Dr. Alfred Ezman, past and present caregivers in both Assisted Living and Unit 1 areas of Peachtree Centre, Regional Hospice Home staff, Spartanburg Regional Hospital 5-South and ER staff, and to Dot’s customers and friends who filled her days with enjoyment and made her smile.
A private family graveside service was held Sunday at Mountain View Cemetery in Blacksburg officiated by Rev. Tim Knotts.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to, Cherokee Falls Baptist Church, “New Fellowship Hall”, 109 School Street, Cherokee Falls, S.C. 29702.
