Edward J. Zubek, age 79, of Chicago, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 13, 2007 at St. James Hospital, Chicago Heights. Born on April 12, 1928 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Matthew and Sophie (nee Boubelka) Zubek. Left to mourn his passing, his daughter Linda (Thomas) Metlow, proud grandfather of Nicholas Metlow, dear brother of Sophie (Richard) Wolf and Patsy (Richard) Tabloff, also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, preceded in death by his beloved wife Florence (nee Czarnecki) and one sister Annie (the late John) Burcel. Mr. Zubek was an active member of the American Legion Post 667 and served his country during WWII as a distinguished lieutenant of the U.S. Marine Corps. He also had a fulfilling career protecting his community as a Lieutenant Firefighter of the Chicago Fire Department. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him. Funeral Services for Edward J. Zubek will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at 9:15 a.m., at Hann Funeral Home, located at 8230 S. Harlem Ave., Bridgeview, to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palos Hills, for Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Justice. Visitation will be Monday and Tuesday, 2 to 9 p.m. For info 708-496-3344.
