Chuck graduated from South Side High School in the Class of 1957 and was named to the all-city basketball team. He had a chance to play basketball in college, but chose to go into the United States Army. He enlisted in 1958 and served in Germany.
Chuck worked in the City Treasurer's Office, then for the Pittsburgh Parking Authority. He retired at age 62, then he worked for a few years at Dick's Sporting Goods.
He was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church in the Brookline neighborhood in the South Hills of Pittsburgh.
