Robert Lee Groves, Sr., 82, of St. Rt. 772, Otway, Ohio, died Tuesday August 16, 2016 at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was born January 26, 1934 in Otway son of the late Albert Jacob and Grace Ellen Townsend Groves. On July 1, 1961 Robert was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Blackburn Groves who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Randy Neal Groves and wife Laura S. of Rarden, Ohio and Robert L. Groves, Jr. and wife Tammy of Rarden; two granddaughters, Jewell Rivers and husband David, Alyssa Basham and husband Brett; three grandsons, John Ward, Robert L. Groves, III, and Austin Wayne Groves; four great grandchildren, Nathan David Rivers, Zachary Groves, Ayden Groves, Jase Rivers; four brothers, Alfred Groves of McDermott, Ohio, Edward Groves and wife Kay of Rarden, Ohio, Harry Groves and wife Monica of Otway, Ohio and Richard Groves and wife Linda of Rarden, Ohio; one sister, Ellen Fern Thompson. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanne Lynn Groves.
Robert was a concrete finisher and a U.S. Army Veteran.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 19, 2016 at the Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway, with Pastor Mark Bales officiating. Burial will follow in U.P. Cemetery with a military honors conducted by Wm Baker Post#363 American Legion, Lucasville, Ohio. Friends may call 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Robert was a concrete finisher and a U.S. Army Veteran.
