Gilbert P. Chandler, 93, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 12. Gil was born January 10, 1920 in Box Hill, Australia.
Gil and his wife, Allade Belle (Whaley) lived in Sevierville, TN and had recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.

Gil served in the U.S. Army and continued to work in federal civil service at the U.S. Army Missile Command in Huntsville until his retirement in 1975. As Chief-Directorate for Plan and Analysis, U.S. Army Missile Command, Gil was awarded the Meritorious Service Award by Major General Vincent Ellis, Commander.

He is survived by his wife, Allade "Belle" (Whaley) Chandler; son, Dennis L. Chandler of Eugene, OR; and daughter, Karen Trachsel of Orlando, FL. Gil has eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His oldest son, Harry E. Chandler, of Huntsville preceded him in death in 2008.

He served his community in several roles including elder in the First Christian Church and Head Scoutmaster of Huntsville.

Family and friends celebrated his life with a memorial service held at the Blue Mountain Mist Country Inn on Jan. 16, 2013 in Sevierville.
