Mary Jane Akridge, 80, of Springfield, Mo., passed away at 8:10 p.m. Nov. 28, 2006, at James River Care Center. She was a Drury alum and member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Mary Jane retired from MSU as a Degree Analyst, with Emeritus status. She was a member of First and Calvary Presbyterian Church. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 17 years, and was a board member of the Little Theater Guild and the Regional Girls Shelter. She was also a member of Dames, Red Hat Society, and a credit union board member. Mary Jane was a men and lady bears fan and an avid Bridge player. She was preceded in death by her husband James B. Ackridge and grandson Patrick Timothy Deshazo, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Judith K. Deshazo and husband, Tim, of West Plains; grandchildren, Lori Deshazo of New York City and Jennifer Burtrum and husband, Robert, of West Plains; great-grandchildren, Bo, McKenzie and Hunter; and nieces and nephew, Lisa, Katie and Billy. Funeral service will be at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Springfield Humane Society.
