Robert B. McKenzie was born in Ballymena, Ireland on September 22, 1880. He was an actor, writer, and director, best known for appearing in B-Westerns as sheriffs, lawyers, and doctors. He was in at least 350 films from 1915 to 1946, wrote 27 films from 1915 to 1935, and directed four films in 1921 and 1922. Among his film appearances were: “The Sign of the Cucumber”(1917) as Sheriff Bob Hardboil, “A Nurse of an Aching Heart”(1917) as Doctor Bones, “Ash-Can Alley”(1918) as O’Malley the Bricklayer, “Bullet Proof”(1920) as Dick Wilbur, “The Fast Mail Man”(1922) as Squire Cyrus Perkins, ”Sheriff of Sun Dog”(1922) as Harp Harris, “The Gentleman From America”(1923) as San Felipe, “Breakin’ Loose”(1925) as Judge Steele, “Bad Man’s Bluff”(1926) as Hank Dooley, “Red Signals”(1927) as Tim Callahan, “Cimarron”(1931) as Pat Leary, “Riding For Justice”(1932) as Judge Septimus P. His show business family included his wife, Eva McKenzie, his daughters, Ella and Ida, and son-in-law Billy Gilbert. Robert McKenzie died of a heart attack, July 8, 1949 in South Kingstown, Rhode Island. He was 68. His body was cremated at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, Rhode Island.
