Green William Hitson was the son of John Wesley Hitson and Kitty Lucas Alexander. He married Mrs. Ella Lee Wilson McLain May 18, 1909 at the home of Rev. A. C. Shell who performed the ceremony.

He and Ella raise her 4 children by John Malcom McLain and 3 of their own:

HITSON, Green. W., 86, died Sunday in a Montgomery hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the Brushey Creek Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana directing. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. J. C. Goram, McKenzie; one brother, Henry Hitson, Tuscaloosa; one step-daughter, Mrs. Ludie Lee, Georgiana; three step-sons, Neal McLain, Georgiana, and Jewel McLain and Marion McLain, both of Greenville; 26 granchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and a number of great-great-grandchildren.
