Aubrey "Papaw" Lee Ables, 94, of Stuttgart formerly of Poyen passed away, July 31, 2014 at Crestpark Nursing Home in Stuttgart, Arkansas. He was born February 3, 1920, in Humphrey, the son of the late Robert and Letha Ables. He married Lacey Mae Melton on March 16, 1940 and she passed away on July 11, 1985. He was also preceded in death by his second wife Pauline Efird Ables, son, Robert Henry Ables; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Ables, who he adored and who lovingly cared for him for many years; two brothers, Marvin and V.O. Ables, sister, Frances Dunlap, and sister-in-law Peggy Ables.

Aubrey was a farmer all of his life, having worked last for Glen Roth Farms retiring in 1982. Aubrey was an avid deer hunter and loved to fish. He was the first person in the area to design tree stands. He was adored by his grandchildren. Their fondest memories of him are of his big hugs, watching him shoot his bow, frying fish for all of the family get-togethers, riding Papaw's three wheeler off into the rice fields and hearing about it when they got back to the house.
He was a member of the Poyen Missionary Baptist Church and a faithful servant until his health declined. He was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be sadly missed.

He is survived by three sons, Albert Ables (Juanita) of Perkins, IL, Danny Ables (Laura) of Searcy, AR., and Jodie Ables (Carol) of Stuttgart; three brothers, Sid Ables (Ruth) of Malvern, AR., Rowdy Ables (Joyce) of Clinton, AR., Bobby Ables (Mercy) of Humphrey, AR., and one sister, Dee Tosh (Clinton) of Jackson, TN.; ten grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, twenty-six great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation is Sunday, August 3 from 1:30-3:00pm at Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Alcorn.
Funeral is Sunday, August 3 at 3:00pm at Corinth Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Frazier Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Arkansas Hospice and the administration and staff of Crestpark for their tender loving care that they have given Papaw over the past two years.

In Lieu of Flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Crestpark Nursing Home in Stuttgart.
