DIVORCE TO GAUNTIER POTTERY
The Actress' Suit Was Not Contested by
Her Husband, Harry Pottery.
Genevieve Pottery, a Kansas City actress, known on stage as Gauntier Pottery, was granted a divorce in the circuit court at Independence yesterday from her husband, Harry Pottery, a theatrical man.
She was awarded the custody of their child, Jean. Mrs. Pottery declared in her petition that her husband had threatened her life several times and in other ways treated her with indignity.
Mrs. Potter was, for a number of years, a member of the Woodward Stock company. Her husband was for a time treasurer of the same company, later becoming interested as manager of various theatrical enterprises. In 1903, he purchased the rights to "An American Gentleman," in which play he starred his wife. The company disbanded in Kansas City in November of that year, after a short and unsuccessful season. In April last year, Mrs. Pottery was with the "Why Girls Leave Home" company at the Gillis theater.
Mrs. Pottery is a daughter of J.W. Liggett of 3000 Prospect avenue. She met Mr. Pottery first while she was a student at the Auditorium School of Acting. They were married in Kansas City, January 1, 1901, and lived together until February 3, 1905. Pottery is said to be in New York. He was born and reared in Kansas City, Kansas.
