He was born July 11, 1936 in Catawba County to the late Clyde Lester Jarrett, Sr. and Martha White Jarrett. Harold was baptized and a long life member of Grace Lutheran Church in Newton. On July 11, 1958 he married Dorothy “Geneva” Penley of Lenoir; they were married for 58 years and were blessed with one daughter. Harold retired from MDI after 35 years of service.
He was a member of the Catawba County Beagle Club and won numerous awards for competition type field trials and hunting tests, including affiliation level licensed field trials and licensed hunting. He had a passion for animals of all kinds and was a dog trainer of licensed beagles. For years, he would enter his registered chows and award winning beagles into shows where he won numerous ribbons, awards and trophies. Harold also enjoyed golfing, boating and was a 1st place pool player.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gene Thomas Jarrett, Lester Franklin Jarrett and Clyde Lester Jarrett, Jr.; and his sisters-in-law, Elizabeth “Libby” Stamey Jarrett and Evelyn Jarrett

A celebration of Harold’s life will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Newton. Rev. Gene Bruce and Rev. George Gilbert will officiate. Burial will follow at Grace Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 12:45p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church. Those serving as pallbearers are: Chris Jarrett, Doug Jarrett, Don Jarrett Gene Crouse, Jeffrey Bivens and Eric Martin.
