Christian G. Koppel, Methodist Minister

The Rev. Dr. Christian G. Koppel, a retired Methodist minister, died Wednesday at Rest Haven Nursing Center, Chestnut Hill. He was 94. Dr. Koppel, a graduate of Dickinson Preparatory School and Dickinson College, was ordained a minister of the Philadelphia Conference of the Methodist Church in 1905. Between then and his retirement in 1949, he served as pastor at 12 different churches in the Philadelphia Conference area. His longest ministry was at the Church of the Covenant where he served from 1921 until 1933. Dr. Koppel's final pastorate was at the Madison Street Methodist Church, Chester, where he served five years.
Following his retirement, he served as a supply pastor at Christ Methodist Church for three years. Dr. Koppel had been a 1 member of numerous church organizations, the Union League and the Merion Cricket Club. His closest survivors are two grandchildren.
