Prior to retirement he was a foreman for the Norfolk and Southern Railroad. He then drove the OATS bus for a number of years. He was very involved in the local 4-H clubs, and was a member of the Mid Missouri Studebaker Club.
Ollie married Alice Burkhart on December 5, 1959 in Keytesville, and she preceded him in death on August 11, 2014. Also preceding him in death were his parents, two sons, Clarence Wayne and Gary Lee, a grandson, William Andrew and a great-grandson, Grayson Adams.
Survivors include a daughter Sherry Dyke and husband Chad and a daughter-in-law Malinda Adams and her friend Randy Coonce all of Moberly; four grandchildren, Amanda Reid and husband Garett of Concordia, Kristy Sparks and husband Jeff of Brookfield, Jason Adams and wife Ashley of Keytesville, and Mattie Adams of Moberly; thirteen great-grandchildren, Alice, Brayden, and Owen Reid, Courtney and Kelsey Sparks, James, Jayce, Desirae, Jaden, and Easton Adams, and Caden, Kylie, and Gary Canaday; brothers-in-law, Claude Burkhart and his wife Joyce of Hannibal and George Burkhart of Moberly, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Tonnar and her husband Mike of Boonville; other relatives and friends.
Ollie enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions to the Gary Adams 4-H Scholarship Fund would be appreciated.
Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at the public visitation which will be Monday. 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Cater Funeral Home. Services honoring and celebrating Ollie’s life will be Tuesday 10:30 a.m. at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Committal prayers and interment will follow in the Keytesville Cemetery in Keytesville, MO.
