He served his country in the US Navy during WWII 1944-1946, achieving the rank of Carpenter's Mate. Third Class. He retired as a Master Electrician from Mid-South Electric Company in 1996 after 40 years of service. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
