He served in WW2 in the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. He would land on Juno Beach with D Company in the first wave on D-Day at 0750 hours. He was involved in all the heavy fighting outside of Caen against the 12th SS Panzer Division - The Hitler Youth Division. Miraculously he survived the fighting all the way up the coast and into Holland at the end of the war without so much as being wounded. He would come home and get a farm thru the Veterans Land Act and marry Alida Mahlum. Together they would be blessed with four daughters - Donna, Denise, Darlene and Delora. He was a quiet man with strong religious beliefs and claimed it was the Lord who got him home again from the war. He is missed by all who knew him as he was truly a special person.
