Austin Elmer Lee Acord, age 88, of Riverside California, formerly of Davison and Durand, died Monday, July 18, 2016. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 22, at Sharp Funeral Homes 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Pastor Mark Cox officiating. Interment to follow at North Grove Cemetery.

Austin was born November 11, 1927, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, the son of Emery L. and Calista (Grimes) Acord. He was a proud member of the UAW Local 599 and worked for Buick City for thirty-four years. Austin was an avid golfer, loved guitar playing, and the harmonica.

Surviving are his five children, Robert Acord, Emery Acord, Timothy (LuAnn) Acord, Rebekah Acord, Harold Acord; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; brother-in-law, Andrew Turner; sister-in-law Susan Bencheck; special thanks to his caregiver Selza Ortega.

Austin was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Avis in 1989 and Cathleen in 2006; two children, Theresa Acord and Anthony Turner.
