William arrived in Vietnam and was assigned
to Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 9th Marine
Regiment, 3rd Marine Division.
Kilo Company was on a patrol in the vicinity
of An Hoa Airfield when he stepped on and
detonated a hostile explosive mine. William
died as a result of multiple fragmentation
wounds to both arms and groin area.
Survived by his parents, Martin Clare & Lois
Cleo M Derksema and his sister; Kathy
Derksema all of 6800 35th SW, Seattle, WA.
