Donald Leland Miller was born at Wellman, Iowa, the son of Melvin and Marjorie Blumenstein Miller. He graduated from Wellman High School in 1951. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. He then graduated from Iowa State University with a Ph D. in poultry nutrition. He worked in the poultry industry for the remainder of his life and currently was a poultry nutritionist consultant.
Don and Jocelyn Jo Ann Kile were married on August 10, 1958 in Ames. They were the parents of 1 daughter and 2 sons.
Don was a member of the Charles Polton Post of the American Legion and attended the First Christian Church in Washington.
Fishing was the top of the list of his hobbies followed by attending sporting events of his grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Genealogy and story telling were other pastimes.
