She was born March 4, 1906, in Denison, the daughter of Thomas R. and Agnes Bagley Marshall. She lived her entire life in the Mayetta and Holton communities.
Mrs. Wamego and her family handled the Mayetta route for a Topeka newspaper for more than 10 years. She later was employed as a clerk at Jones Grocery Store and also worked at the Mayetta Post Office.
Alice was a long-time member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Mayetta. After moving to Holton in 1990, she attended St. Dominic Catholic Church. She also was a member of the Jackson County Historical Society.
She married George G. Wamego on June 5, 1937, at Mayetta. He died Nov. 4, 1976. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas R. Marshall and Charles E. Marshall; and four sisters, Mildred Neft, Margaret Sanderson, Vera Hudson and Gertrude Robinson.
Survivors include her daughter, Theresa M. Eberly, Topeka; a granddaughter, Diane Norwine and husband Don, Plano, Texas; a sister, Helen Kilian, Topeka; a brother, Richard Marshall, Shawnee Mission; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Nov. 4 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Mayetta. Burial will be in Shipshee Cemetery west of Mayetta. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Nov. 3 with visitation to follow at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
