Rusty, Russ, Russell, born to Maria & Louie, in Los Angeles, California, They provided dad with love, kindness, a wonderful sister, Alice, plus hard work. Dad had a fun childhood in Glassell Park, climbing hills, building coasters, model air planes and riding his bicycle from here to all over & building life long Friends, While attending Franklin High, he studied metal shop, lathe work and welding.
He had a skill at 18 years old, so when he was drafted at 21, to WW2 he became a 114 Machinist, served with the 93 ORD attached to 254 Infantry Regiment, 5th Army, North Africa, Sicily, Naples, Anzio, Foggia, Monte Cassino to Rome then north, up the French German border to Dachau, then on to Berchtesgaden.
He was a strong man, he had a mind with gears running, an inventor, AA degree in A&P, was a private pilot, life long Master Auto Mechanic. Along with his father he opened a Service Station in 1954, they were happy.
Nona cleaned the place too! He married Mary Evie Pellkofer after WW2, built a home and raised 4 kids with 22 years of marriage.
He put in 6 days a week and really liked helping people with car issues, always wanting to steer them in them in the right direction, passed at 93 years.
Flying & Airplanes were his Love & Dad Loved the V.A. West L.A. Grec Clinic
