Bertha Griffis graduated from Hugo High School in 1920 with a 4.0 GPA and was the school's valedictorian. Now known as Southeastern Oklahoma State University, she went on to attend Southeastern State Teachers College in Durant OK. and was the first person to receive a lifetime teaching certificate from the institution. She later earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education.
On Nov. 25, 1927 she married William "Bill" Robison in Hugo, OK.
Bertha taught school for over thirty year in Choctaw County and at the end of her career she had been principal in three school districts. After retirement she worked as a substitute teacher for sevaral years. She was active in 4-H, taught piano and coached softball.
