OAKLAND -- A motorcyclist killed Sunday afternoon in East Oakland was identified Monday as Alexander P. Murphy, 34, by the Alameda County Coroner's Office a.
Murphy, of Oakland, was riding his motorcycle eastbound in the 8000 block of International Boulevard about 4:35 p.m. Sunday when a black 2004 Audi in front of him made a left turn into a business, police said.
Murphy hit the back of the Audi then crossed into the westbound lanes, where the motorcycle struck a parked car, causing Murphy to fall off. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Audi fled on foot. Police are seeking him for an interview.
Investigators are trying to determine if speeding and alcohol contributed to the initial collision.
