At the age of 101, born Hedwig Bialobreski in Syracuse, NY to the late Anne (nee Telakowski) and Stanislaus Mary Ann (Jarmacz) Bialobreski. Loving sister of John Bialobreski, and the late Catherine Kaminski, Regina Marcinkiewicz, Anne Stempien, Sophie Wisowaty, Helen Bialobreski, George White and Stanley Bialobreski. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Felician Sisters and family will be present at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent (600 Doat) on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 2-5 p.m. An Evening Prayer Service will take place on July 6, at 5 p.m. in the Convent Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Cheektowaga, NY.

SISTER HARRIET MARIE BIALOBRESKI, CSSF Teacher

Sister Harriet Marie, 101, a Felician Sister for 85 years, died at the Blessed Mary Angela Care Center, Buffalo, NY, on July 4, 2016. The former Hedwig Bialobreski was born on December 29, 1914 in Syracuse, NY. She was a member of Transfiguration Parish in Syracuse. She entered the Immaculate Heart of Mary Province of the Felician Sisters in Buffalo, NY, on June 24, 1931, and professed perpetual vows on December 28, 1939. She graduated from the Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy, Buffalo, NY, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education degree at Mount St. Joseph Teachers College now known as Medaille College, Buffalo, NY.

Sister Harriet Marie ministered in Education throughout her religious life. She served in the Dioceses of Buffalo, Syracuse and Ogdensburg. She began teaching children in primary grades and eventually taught on the intermediate level. Most of her teaching was in Catholic elementary schools within the Diocese of Buffalo. At St. Hyacinth School in Lackawanna, NY, she also served as principal and at St. Mary School in New York Mills, NY, she was assistant principal. She was a diligent and experienced teacher who instilled good study habits and courteous attitudes toward others in her students.

At Sacred Heart School in Syracuse, NY, Sister Harriet Marie began teaching on a part-time basis as a school aide in 1983. She continued as a part-time teacher at St. Mary School in Canton, NY, and at St. Mary School in New York Mills, NY. In 1994, she was a school aide at St. Stanislaus Kostka School in Binghamton, NY, and then assisted at Our Lady of Czestochowa School in Buffalo, NY.
Because of her failing health, Sister Harriet Marie became a member of St. Francis Residence Convent in Buffalo, NY, in 2000. She became a patient in the Felician Sisters Health and Wellness Center, now known as the Blessed Mary Angela Care Center, on November 15, 2006. As a patient in the care center, she was a quiet, prayerful presence among her sisters in community and was known for her kindness.
