Illness Fatal to J. C. Hensley


J. C. Hensley, Bedford Route 1, died late last night at Dunn Memorial Hospital after being admitted there yesterday morning. He had been failing in health for four years and had been seriously ill for the past two months.

He was born at Liberty, Indiana, May 11, 1872, the son of William and Matilda Mitchell Hensley. He was married to Nola Fields on September 6, 1917.

He was a retired Monon Railway conductor with 53 years service, a member of the Baptist Church of Quincy, Indiana, Temple Lodge No. 47 F & A M at Greencastle, Commandry and Knights Templar also at Greencastle, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Shrine Murat Temple of Indianapolis and the Order of Railway Conductors.

The remains will lie in state after 6 p. m. today at Day and Carter Mortuary and the funeral will be conducted at Elmwood Chapel of Day and Carter Mortuary at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Harvey Burns of Paoli officiating. Burial will be in Owensburg Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Jo Ann Hensley, at home; one son, Earl C. Hensley of Oakland, California; one sister, Mrs. Annie Whidden of Chambers, Nebraska; three half brothers, B. H. Garrett of Manhattan Beach, California, David H. Garrett of Madison, Nebraska, and Walter Garrett of Omaha, Nebraska.
