Bill served in the Army during WWII, was a POW in Germany, and retired as a Major from the Reserves. After the war, he graduated from Wake Forest University and Southwestern Baptist Seminary. He served as Minister of Christian Education in several churches throughout the Carolinas for ten years and as a Bible and math teacher in the Cleveland County School System for nineteen years. A longtime member of First Baptist Church, he served as a deacon, Sunday School Teacher and member of the Senior Choir. One of his favorite activities after retirement was competing in the Senior Games where he won many medals at the regional and state levels. Bill was a loving husband, Daddy, Grandpa and Pop.
