NORTH ATTLEBORO – Louis “Lou” Abdou, 78, of Ranch Street passed away early Thursday morning, May 5, 2016 at home surrounded by his devoted family. He was the beloved husband of Anita (Berger) Abdou for 46 years.
Born September 16, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late Marie (Koury) Waishek.
Lou grew up in Boston and was a 1955 graduate of Boston English High School. He later attended Northeastern University and has been a resident of North Attleboro for the past 38 years.
He was a U.S Navy Veteran of the Korean War and worked as a bus and trolley driver for the MBTA for 23 years before retiring in 1996. Lou was a proud member of the Carmen’s Union, local 589 in Boston.
He was a longtime active communicant of St. Mary’s Church in North Attleboro where he was an altar server and a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society in charge of their food pantry for many years. He was a recipient of the Marian Medal for the Fall River Diocese.
He was active in the Town of North Attleboro as an elections poll worker for many years.
Lou was an avid reader and loved Boston sports, particularly the Red Sox and Patriots. He loved gardening, both flower gardening and growing vegetables and created his own koi pond at his home and loved watching old movies on Turner Classic Movies cable station.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Peter Abdou of North Attleboro, David Abdou and his wife Andrea of Ludlow and Nicole Daigneault and husband Jonathan of Attleboro;
A brother William Koury of Londonderry, NH;
Four grandchildren: Seth and Samuel Abdou and Nicholas and Paige Daigneault;Also many nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held from the funeral home followed by a Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro . Burial will be privately held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Attleboro Falls MA.
