Norene was a homemaker and taught piano students in her home for nearly 30 years. During those years, she was also an organist at the Luther Methodist Church. She enjoyed music, sewing, and family activities. Norene and Lyle were longtime supporters of Iowa State University Basketball. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Boone, United Methodist Women, the Iowa State University coffee group, and the P.E.O. Norene served as the Colfax Township Clerk from 1975 to 2006. A memorial bench in Rose Hill/Clark Cemetery was dedicated in her honor.
