Hoover H. Hurley Sr., 64, of 56 W. North St., Carlisle, died Friday, April 14, 2000 in Carlisle Hospital. Born Aug. 4, 1935 in Carlisle, he was the son of Nellie M. Heberlig Hurley of Carlisle and the late Hoover Jacob Hurley. A graduate of Carlisle High School and a Protestant, Mr. Hurley was a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a former employee of City Oil and Gas Co. in Middletown. He was a member of American Legion Post 101, the VFW post, Am-Vets and Eagles Club, all of Carlisle. In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife of 16 years, Linda K. Paxton Hurley; three sons, Hoover H. Jr. of Lake Worth, Fla., Rex A. of Orlando, Hurley Sr. Fla., and Shawn W. of Carlisle; one daughter, Angela R. Hendryx of Waukesha, Wis.; one brother, Richard of Canal Winchester, Ohio; two sisters, Virgie Blair of Logan, Ohio, and Shirley Bitner of Barboursville, Va.; a step-son, David F. Greenawalt of Carlisle; two stepdaughters, Tracy M. Hughes and Buffie R. Finkey both of Carlisle; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services with military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Daniel R. Mikesell officiating. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township, Lebanon County. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
