Robert Eugene Lance was born April 20, 1934, in Yates Center, Kansas. He passed away on Monday, February 16, 2009, in Jacksonville, Arkansas. He was the youngest of five children of Jean and Helen Faye (Smith) Lance. He grew up in Yates Center and Fort Scott, Kansas. After high school, Robert joined the Air Force, from which he retired after 20 years of service to his country. While stationed in England, he met and married his wife, Sylvia Joy Cowdery. Together they raised six children and had been married almost 50 years when Sylvia passed away on January 17, 2004.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia, his parents Jean & Helen Lance, his brothers Raymond & Harold Lance, and his sister Helen Jean (Lance) Willaby. He is survived by his 6 children, 15 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and one brother.
Robert was laid to rest with full military honors on February 21, 2009 at Rest Hills Memorial Park, North Little Rock, Arkansas.
