Ervin Andrew Brong, Jr, 87, of Hollywood, MD, died July 7, 2006 at his residence.

Born August 5, 1918 in Peckville, PA, he was the son of the late Ervin Andrew Brong, Sr. and Frances Ollendick Brong. Mr. Brong served his country for 30 years in the U.S. Navy retiring in 1970. He received the World War II Victory, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, American Defense Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Good Conduct Medal (Ninth Award). He also worked for Stuart Petroleum for five years. Mr. Brong was a member of the Almas Shrine Temple in Washington, DC, Papo Peake Shrine Club, theThomas J. Shryock Lodge 223 AF & AM and received the 33rd Degree in Scottish Rite Valley of Southern Maryland.

He is survived by his wife, Stella Samaras Brong, whom he married November 4, 1953 in Cairo, Egypt, a daughter Helen Brong Norris and her husband Scott of Lexington Park, MD, a son, Karl Elwood Brong and his wife Joyce of Millerstown, PA, eight grandchildren, Brandon Norris, Jeffrey Norris, Karla Brong, Melissa Brong, Nicole Brong, Ryan Brong, Amanda Brong and Samantha Brong, a sister, Shirley Thomas Chapman Lake, PA, and a brother, John Gilbert Brong of Peckville, PA. Mr. Brong was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth May Ely and a brother, Holmer Brong.
