"F.D." came to the Ardmore OK (Indian Territory) area from Greenville, Texas, in the spring of 1891, and settled at Durwood (near what is now Dickson, OK) where for eight years he was associated in business with his father, Nathan Cornell, the son of John Cornwell and Stacy Farmer. His mother was Clarinda Orr, the daughter of Sample Orr (1795-1870) and Susannah Parrot (1801-1870). Coming to Ardmore, he engaged in the mercantile and grocery business which he continued to operate until ill health forced him to retire.
