GRANDFIELD, Okla. - Billy Burl Allen, 52, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, in Amarillo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Grandfield, with the Rev. James M. Watson, Ardmore, Okla., officiating. Burial will be in Grandfield Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gray Funeral Home.
Mr. Allen worked for MMM Plumbing, Heat and Air Conditioning Company in the fabrication shop.
Survivors include a son, Billy Allen Jr., of Abilene, Kan.; a brother, Roger Allen of Amarillo; and a sister, Brenda Beverly of Fort Worth.
Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244.

He then attended Okmulgee Technical School. He was employed by Brown and Root, working in several different states. He resided in Amarillo for the past 14 years. He worked for MMM Plumbing, Heat and Air Conditioning Co. in the fabrication shop. Billy was a member of First Baptist Church of Grandfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and an uncle and aunt, Ervin and Thelma Thompson.
Survivors include a son, Billy Allen Jr. and wife Katie of Abilene, Kan.; a brother, Roger and wife Beverly of Amarillo; a sister, Brenda Beverly and husband James of Fort Worth; a nephew and niece, Jeremy and Brittany Beverly of Fort Worth; a special friend, Jessie Prosser of Amarillo; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A friend of mine was found dead today. i am so sorry for his children and family. Billy Allen was a great man. He could always make you laugh. If he thought you were down he always had a joke to tell. And you would always be guarenteed to laugh.
Billy Allen didn 't know a stranger. He was good through and through. Kind of guy that would give his shirt, if it could help someone else. i never heard a foul word about anyone come across his lips. He was just one of the "good ole boys", you know old school.
When i got the news the first thing that came to my mind was, hell no one called lookin for him cause they all thought he won the lottery. He would go into Dickies office each week and let him know he probably wouldn't be in the next week cause he was sure he had the winning ticket. Damn Billy! Made me kinda chuckle. i think Billy Allen would have appreciated that comment. It would have made him laugh.
And then there was the Christmas Countdown. He would start it at like 100 days out. And each morning ole Billy Allen would come across the intercom and say, however many days left of Christmas Shopping left.
Billy Allen would always fuss if ya didn't call him when donuts were in the office. He would say he had a disadvantage working in the back of the shop. He did some awesome work with sheet metal. Which i am proud to own, a small sample.
We shared a love of windchimes and before i left A & R he made me a gong. My neighbors hate that thing. It's almost amazing how loud it was tonight. Hmmmmmm hadn't thought about that till now. He also made me what he called a Texas Nickel. He didn't make many of them, so i feel honored that i have one. Thank you Billy Allen. Rest in peace, friend!
