Ms. LaShay L. McFarlin was born in San Diego, California, the daughter of Leonard (Codda) McFarlin and Carolyn Elliot (Novak). At a young age she moved to Midland where she attended Midland Public Schools participating in basketball, softball, and track. LaShay was a kind, warm-hearted soul, whose welcoming smile would light up a room. She accepted Jesus Christ as her savior whose spirit shown through in her love for friends and family.

Ms. LaShay L. McFarlin leaves her family to cherish her memory are her children, Jaylen and Angelo Gott of Midland, MI; her parents, Francis and Carolyn Novak of Midland; sisters Jennifer and Jasmine Novak of Midland; brother Floyd Novak of Lake Orion; uncles, Ryan Griffin of Columbus, OH, Christopher Thompson and Freddy Abernathy of California, Melvin (Sharon), Irving (Paula), Ronnie (Karen), Donald (Margarit), Darryl (Muhsinah) and Anthony (Mary) McFarlin also of California, Floyd (Debbie) Novak of Kalkaska, Guy (Robin) Novak of Florida, Mark (Katrina) Novak of Texas, Brian Novak of South Carolina; aunts, Delpha Mayes of Midland, Melody (Lester) Bullard of Irving, TX, Brenda (Matthew) Wilburn, Renee (Ray) Bland, and Gwen (Bennie) Lewis of California, Rosalyn (Mike) Danesi of Virginia; a very special cousin Shauntell Smith of Midland; and a host of cousins, family and friends.

Ms. McFarlin was preceded in death by her grandparents Alvin and Rosalee McFarlin, Wylodean Mason, Floyd Novak Sr. and Rosalyn Carson. Her uncles Alvin Jr., Kenneth, and David McFarlin and her aunt Alvera McFarlin.

Funeral services for Ms. McFarlin will take place at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2016 from the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street, with Rev. Randall Hardy officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider LaShay’s family.
