Richmond, IN - Irene E. Klute, age 95, passed away on Saturday (October 10th 2015) at Forest Park Health Campus. She was born on September 11th 1920 to Joseph and Elsie Kaucher in Richmond and had lived here all her life. She had worked as a nurse for 40 years, including time at local schools and time as the Director of Nursing at the Wayne County Health Department. Irene had a lifelong love of music, and enjoyed reading, cooking, quilting, and gardening. She was a life member of St. John Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband of 21 years Tom Klute; son Larry Thomas of Rhode Island; sisters in law Mary Kaucher and Esther Kaucher; granddaughters Katherine Shepard, Rebecca Dowiot, and Sarah Duprey; and 3 great grandsons. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband Roger Thomas and brothers James Kaucher, Ernest Kaucher, Herbert Kaucher, and Paul Kaucher.
Services for Irene will be held on Thursday (October 15th 2015) at 1 p.m. in Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary. Pastor Ed McFarland will officiate. Burial will follow in Lutherania Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
