A Bardstown resident, William Wayne Thompson Sr, age 63, passed Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Robley Rex VA Hospital in Louisville. He was born on December, 14, 1952 to the late William Ruben Thompson and Elizabeth Ann Howard Thompson Shipp. He was a self employed contractor, veteran of United States Army, member and past president of Eagles Post 2173 and of the catholic faith.
He was preceded in death by twins Vanessa and Tim Thompson and a brother, James Curtis Shipp.
He is survived by his wife: Betty Louise Sauer Thompson, children, William W. Thompson, II, Tiffany Nicole Thompson, John P. Thompson, Gerald W. Zirnheld and Ammie Davis, sister, Vickie Shipp, brothers, Jerry, Randy, Johnny and Steve Thompson, Charles, Kenny and Gary Shipp. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 11:00am at Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with Fr. Maurice Hayes, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will be in Bardstown Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00-8:00pm and after 8:30am Wednesday at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, who is in charge of arrangements
