Frank Philip Pezze Jr., age 80, longtime Guilderland resident and owner of Pega Risk Managers, Inc., passed away October 29, 2006 at his home surrounded by family after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born January 3, 1926 in Sheffield, Mass., he was class president at Searles High School and graduated in 1944. He was a World War II Army veteran serving in Europe as a captain of the artillery division. He later joined the 109th Division of the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He worked as director of personnel and as a Air Force Academy Liason Officer. After the war, he continued his education by graduating from the Albany Business College and in 1951 married Dorothy Ruth Haskell of Pittsfield, Mass. He graduated from Siena College in 1954, earning a degree in finance and was listed in Who's Who of American Colleges. Frank started his career working for Ter Bush & Powell of Schenectady before starting Pega Risk Managers, Inc. in 1974. In 1998, he was honored as Who's Who Among Top Executives. He ran that business until 2000 before retiring and leaving the business with his two sons, Kevin and Dan. He also owned Pega Plaza in Guilderland. He was a past president of Independent Insurance Agents Association. Frank was a longtime usher and a communicant of St. Madeleine Sophie's Church. He also enjoyed skiing out west, tennis in his winter home in Venice, Fla., Prohack racquetball at the Court Club and golfing at Pinehaven Golf Course in Guilderland. Son of the late Frank and Christine (Edgecomb) Pezze Sr. He was husband for 55 years to his devoted wife Dorothy. Frank is survived by his twin sisters, Anna (Tom) Buckley, Sheffield, Mass., Norma (Larry) Cullivan Weymouth, Mass.; brother, Francis (Carol) Pezze, Latham, N.Y. Predeceased by sister, Marion Miraglia, Pittsfield, Mass.; proud father of Frank P. Pezze III (Susan Avellino) of Guilderland, Mary Ellen (John) Kokoletsos of Clifton Park, Kevin Pezze (Carol Rappaport) of Delmar, Dan Pezze (Carol Ryan) of Slingerlands, Eileen (Steve) Humes of Delaware, Kathleen (Dale) Jackson of Guilderland. He is survived by 16 loving grandchildren, Jennifer, Meghan, Ashley, Francesca, McKenzie, Madison, Tara, Brian, Kristin, Michael, Ian, Cole, Danielle, Erin, Brandon and Leah. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to his devoted and personnel health staff. Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Turnpike, Guilderland (just west of Carman Road). Funeral services will be held 9:15 a.m. Thursday at DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, then to St. Madeleine Sophie Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association of New York State.
