URIS CORNELIUS, 83, RETIRED GROCER, DIES
Urie G. Cornelius, retired grocer and farmer of the Sinking For community, died at 4:15 p.m. yesterday at Jennie Stuart Hospital after a long illness. He would have observed is 84th birthday on Thursday.
Services were held at Hughart-Keightly Funeral Home with Rev. William Hammonds officiating. Burial will be in the Wood family Cemetery at Sinking Fork.
Mr. Cornelius of 220 W 13th St., formerly had owned and operated a grocery store near Sinking Fork School for 25 years. He retired from farming five years ago.
A life-long resident of Christian County, he was born March 25, 1881, the son of John W. and Mary Hamblin Cornelius. He was a member of Sinking Fork Christian Church. His wife, Mrs. Hattie Wood Cornelius died in 1957.
Surviving are two brothers, Chester A. Cornelius, of the city, and Luther Cornelius, of the county.
