Fannie C. Wood was the daughter of Leander Madison Wood and Mary Rebecca Bennet. She was born December 25, 1867 in Missouri.
According to the US Census, In 1870 she was a resident of Johnson County Missouri. In 1880, the family was back in Christian County, Kentucky. Also listed are siblings, in birth order: Mary J. E. Wood, Ledora E., Wallace R., Fannie C., Jesse E., Loneva, Allie and Winfield M. Wood.

On December 26, 1890, she married George B. Hancock in Christian County, Kentucky. To this union there were four known children; Wallace Reno, Joseph Lee, Paul Adrian and Winfield M. Hancock.
