After returning home, he helped on the family farm and later became a rural mail carrier. It was on his mail route that he met his bride-to-be, Miss Annis Lydia Lyle. The two were married on September 18, 1929. Four children were born to this union; Three of which still survive.
Raleigh worked for the post office where he retired in 1960, after 35 years of service. After retirement, he spent his time farming in the Sinking Fork Community where he had lived his entire life.
He was a good Christian man, serving as Deacon in the Sinking Fork Baptist Church for many years. He was a kind man who was well liked by all who knew him.
He died in May of 1977 and is buried in the Wood Cemetery in the Sinking Fork Community where he was born and raised.
