Mrs. Mozisek was my Beloved Teacher and Friend from St. Ann's. I had not spoken to her in a while and wasn't aware she passed but thought it odd that I hadn't gotten my yearly Christmas Card. The past year was hectic and we hadn't spoken in a while. It was just a feeling I had and then found out online that she had passed. She will be missed.

Betty Snavely Mozisek, also affectionately known as Miz Mo, Aunt Betty, Miss Betty, Mrs. Sugarshack, Me, Mama, Mama Mo, Ma-n-Law, and Grandma passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016 in the security of her own home in San Antonio at the grand ole age of 87. She is preceded in death by her parents, Emma Frances Schaefer, and Earl Samuel Snavely and her stepmother, Sally McCall Snavely. Betty's husband, Raymond, also preceded her in death twenty years earlier after 47 years of marriage in which she indulged, spoiled and loved him. Betty lovingly leaves behind two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Paul Klein, and Cindy and George Callins, also a brother and sister, Emma Frances Richardson, and Earl Samuel Snavely, Jr. In addition, she is survived by her devoted grandchildren: Christine Guichard (Brandon), Wendi Green (Luke) and Karl Sanford (Misty) along with three great grandchildren, Stella Thornell, Byron and Rory Green. Betty was loved by all and in turn dearly adored her nieces and nephews, Nangie Lowrie (Jeff ), Scott Mozisek (Billy Kay Watts), Jamie Mozisek, Robert Richardson, (Rayanne) and David Snavely, (Elsa). She also leaves behind Punkin, a four legged gift from God who wandered up to her door one day and became her constant companion for the last three years of her life. Betty was truly blessed with another family during her lifetime, her Lullwood family, Ray, Cathy, Carol, Suz, Linda, Laura and Aunt Rita as these awesome individuals brightened her life on a daily basis and contributed to her happiness as she did to their lives. Besides never knowing a stranger; Betty supplied her friends with loyalty, a listening ear, a generous heart and lots and lots of advice! She leaves behind two best friends, Jerry Hutcheson, and Karen Garcia. Betty's accomplishments amazed all. She was a beloved mother and wife, a professional seamstress, an adored teacher at St. Ann's, a secretary with excellent short hand skills, a devoted student, an artist, and a lady with a profound sense of humor entertaining all who knew her. Betty Mo loved traveling, playing games with anyone who was willing, gambling wherever it took place, shopping anywhere in the world, sewing the perfect outfit, teaching with inspiration, eating a good rib-eye without bar-b-que sauce, celebrating a juicy hamburger with mustard, sipping on iced coffee through a straw, writing the perfect thank-you note, working in the garden when the cats weren't around, reading about the history of any nation, loving anything from the orient, watching The Big Bang Theory, collecting dishes, beanie babies, coins, stamps and David Winter Cottages, enjoying a good chocolate moon pie, and spending an evening or day with her dear, dear bunco clubs. Betty will be treasured by all who knew her for a lifetime, a few years or even a brief moment when she struck up a conversation with a stranger in the passing reminding us, "By a fluke of nature, woman will rule the world for a time but by virtue of love and kindness, a woman will rule the world forever." We will never forget our treasured, Betty Snavely Mozisek. Services will be held Thursday, June 2nd at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 700 Dewhurst Rd., San Antonio. Visitation will be at 1:00 in the church, followed by Mass at 2:00 and a reception at St. Gregory's Hall. Interment will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Monday, June 6th at 2:30 where Betty will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Raymond.
